Our Practices
Sustainable by Nature. Regenerative by Design. Rooted in Purpose.
At Perch & Pasture Co., we’re not chasing trends—we’re restoring a way of life. As a veteran-owned, family-operated farm, every decision we make is guided by a simple question: Will this make things better—for the land, the animals, our customers, and our family?
The answer is regeneration. A slower, more intentional path that puts life back into the soil, respect back into animal care, and meaning back into our food.
We raise:
- A2A2 Jersey cows for raw milk
- Pigs on Pasture
- Rotationally grazed poultry (broilers, layers, ducks, quail)
- Dairy goats and beef cattle on pasture
Healthy Animals - Naturally Raised
Our animals live outdoors—where they belong. Cows graze, pigs root, chickens scratch, and goats browse across diverse pasture and woodland edges. No feedlots, no confinement, no shortcuts.
We practice Adaptive Multi-Paddock (AMP) grazing, moving animals frequently to fresh ground. This mimics natural herd migration, prevents overgrazing, spreads fertility, and allows rest and regrowth—keeping both animals and land in balance.
We also calf-share with our dairy herd, meaning calves stay with their mothers rather than being removed at birth. This allows for natural bonding and nursing while still sharing milk with our customers. It’s a slower, less efficient process—but it’s better for the cow, the calf, and our conscience.
We never use routine antibiotics, synthetic dewormers, or hormones. Instead, we prioritize immune health, species-appropriate diets, low-stress handling, and breeding for natural resistance and hardiness. All of our laying hens are hatched here on-farm, building strong immunity from day one.
Healthy Land — Regenerative by Design
Our land is our most sacred resource—and we treat it that way. We don’t use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. Instead, we build life from the ground up.
We use the power of animal impact to fertilize, aerate, and revitalize the soil. Our grazing methods mimic natural cycles, encouraging native grasses, microbial diversity, and water retention. Each species plays a role—from pigs disturbing compacted soil to chickens scratching through cow patties to spread fertility.
Our pasture includes:
-
10+ species of seasonal grasses
-
Restored forage diversity
-
No chemical inputs, ever
Surrounded by 80% woodland, we steward edge habitats, old-growth trees, and pollinator populations. This pasture-woodland blend allows us to support animals in species-appropriate environments while working in sync with the surrounding ecosystem.
Every choice is about regenerating what was lost—and leaving the land better than we found it.
Healthy Food — Rooted in Community
Our food doesn’t just nourish your body—it tells a story. It’s the story of two hands milking a cow at dawn, of pigs moved to fresh pasture, of eggs gathered with care and packed by our daughters.
We believe food should be:
-
Transparent: You deserve to know where it came from and how it was raised.
-
Local: We sell directly to families in our community.
-
Nutrient-Dense: No fillers, no fluff—just food raised how it was meant to be.
From raw milk and pasture-raised meats to eggs, seasonal poultry, and fresh herbs—every item you take home from us represents real work, real care, and real flavor.
And when you shop with us, you’re not supporting a faceless brand. You’re investing in your local food system, your neighbors, and a family committed to doing things right.
Healthy Farmers — Living the Work
This isn’t just our job—it’s our life. We're a husband-and-wife team, raising two daughters and choosing a life that reflects our values, not just our needs. We homeschool, farm full-time, and steward this land with a sense of deep responsibility.
Daniel served 17 years in the Army. Mandie brings her background in wellness and energy-based care. Together, we’ve built this farm with nothing but grit, faith, and the belief that honest food matters.
Our days are long, our clothes are stained, and our hearts are full. Because farming, at its core, is sacred work—and we’re honored to do it.
We hope our farm becomes known not just for what we produce, but for how we live. For choosing integrity over ease, stewardship over speed, and community over convenience.
Thank You for Growing With Us
Whether you're a loyal customer, a curious visitor, or just someone wondering if food can still be raised the old-fashioned way—welcome. You're in the right place.
Our DaiRy Practices
Small Batch. High Standards. Full Transparency.
At Perch & Pasture Co., our raw milk is produced with the same level of care we give our own family—but as required by Georgia law, it is sold for pet consumption only under a pet food license.
We are fully compliant with Georgia’s labeling and licensing laws, but we believe transparency builds trust. That’s why we openly share our practices—because the “how” matters.
Cows Come First
Our dairy cows are raised with gentleness, gratitude, and attention to detail. Milking isn’t a rushed process here—it’s a relationship.
We milk just two cows at a time, allowing us to:
-
Fully assess each cow’s health at every milking
-
Ensure calm, low-stress handling
-
Maintain clean udders and clear teats
-
Prevent cross-contamination
-
Give each animal the attention she deserves
Each udder is cleaned thoroughly before and after milking using natural, food-safe solutions to remove debris, reduce bacterial load, and keep our cows comfortable. Clean cows make clean milk—it’s that simple.
This method also enables small-batch milk production, meaning better quality control, improved cleanliness, and milk that’s handled gently from cow to bottle.
Fueling the Dairy Herd
Producing milk takes a lot of energy—especially when cows are rotationally grazed and not pushed on a high-grain diet. We supplement their forage with targeted fuel, designed to nourish both cow and milk.
Our dairy cows receive:
-
Chaffhaye or AlfaHay as a fermented, digestible fiber source
-
Alfalfa mash or beet pulp and molasses for added energy and minerals
-
Free-choice minerals (Redmonds) to support metabolic and reproductive health
-
Clean, rotational pasture access for diversity and movement
-
We don't feed commercial dairy pellets or cheap fillers—just real nutrition for real output.
Sanitation That Matters
Clean milk starts long before the bottle. We use ozone sanitation to sterilize all milking equipment, inflations, lines, and jars—removing harmful bacteria without harsh chemicals.
After milking, the milk is:
-
Immediately transferred indoors
-
Filtered not once, but twice through fine-mesh filters
-
Cooled rapidly and bottled in small batches
We bottle and label everything clearly under Georgia’s pet milk license, in compliance with state law. But our standards go far beyond the legal minimum—because integrity doesn’t come with shortcuts.
Working Toward RAWMI Certification
We're in the process of becoming certified through the Raw Milk Institute (RAWMI)—a leading organization that provides standards and training for raw milk producers focused on safety, education, and transparency.
While we're not certified yet, we are actively aligning with many of RAWMI’s best practices, including:
-
Daily milk quality checks
-
Individual cow health monitoring
-
Written sanitation and milk-handling protocols
-
Transparent communication with customers
We believe in doing things the right way—even when the law says “for pets only.”
Milk That Reflects the Cow, the Soil, and the Season
Our milk isn’t standardized, pasteurized, or homogenized. It’s alive with beneficial enzymes, healthy fats, and seasonal shifts—because that’s how nature intended it.
We take great pride in producing the highest quality raw milk possible—safely, respectfully, and in full compliance with the law.
When you purchase from us, you’re supporting a farm that values transparency, integrity, and regeneration in every jar.
